Dr. Bartlett is an experienced and respected cosmetic dentist who serves as a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Our Approach to a Beautiful Smile Makeover
Dr. Bartlett will tailor your treatment plan to your individual situation and your goals for your smile. Cosmetic treatment can be as simple as a teeth whitening or could involve more extensive treatment such as teeth straightening, dental implants, or crowns and/or veneers.
Many cosmetic treatments, such as veneers, can be completed in just one or two visits. Dr. Bartlett has your best interest at heart and will advise you on the options available to get the results you are looking for.
Smile evaluation and consultation
To start off, we will take X-rays, and intraoral and extraoral photos of your smile (inside and outside your mouth), for thorough diagnostics. Dr. Bartlett will discuss your smile goals with you in detail, so that she can get a thorough understanding of the results you want.
Reviewing our smile gallery
Dr. Bartlett will review our smile gallery of before and after photos with you and ask you what shapes and sizes appeal to you. Together, you will finalize the design of your new smile.
Study model
Dr. Bartlett will make a study model of your mouth, which she will mount on an articulator (a device that simulates the action of your jaw joint). This assists her in planning your treatment and ensuring that your new smile will not only look good but will also have a good bite alignment.
Reviewing steps and procedures
Before treatment begins, Dr. Bartlett will go over the steps and procedures of your treatment with you in detail, so that you can feel comfortable and at ease with the work that is going to be done.
Full wax-up from our dental lab
For more extensive cases, Dr. Bartlett will order a full wax-up from an excellent dental lab we partner with. A wax-up is a wax model of the work that is to be done, allowing both you and the doctor to get a detailed preview of your new smile. Dr. Bartlett will present the model to you for approval, and she will make any needed adjustments until you are happy with the final design.
Procedures We Use to Create Your New Smile
Dr. Bartlett will lay out a custom treatment plan to address the things that you want to change about your smile and get the smile you always wanted. The procedures she uses to create your new smile can include:
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain coverings that are bonded to the front of your teeth to change their shape, size and/or color. Porcelain veneers can usually be completed in two visits and can make a dramatic change to your smile.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is used when the tooth needs cosmetic changes but is also in need of structural repair. A crown can also be used on top of an implant post to replace a missing tooth.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening can be a quick way to markedly enhance your smile. Dr. Bartlett provides NiteWhite® professional-strength whitening gel with custom-shaped bleaching trays that you can use at home.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a tooth-colored dental resin that can be used to correct flaws such as chips and minor cracks in a tooth. It can also be used to change the size, shape or color of your teeth, but is not as durable and long-lasting as veneers. Dr. Bartlett is experienced with dental bonding and can let you know if it is an option for you.
Suresmile® Teeth Straightening
The Suresmile® Teeth Straightening system uses a series of clear, nearly invisible plastic aligners to gradually straighten your teeth over time. The aligners are comfortable to wear, can be removed for special occasions and eliminate the need for metal wires or brackets.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are considered the modern solution for replacing missing teeth. A titanium post is inserted into your jaw and topped by a crown which acts, looks and feels just like a natural tooth. We are usually able to provide all stages of your implant treatment in-house.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a series of connected crowns that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Although they have certain disadvantages compared to implants, bridges are a very suitable option for replacing missing teeth in certain circumstances.
