Meet the Doctors - Dr. Kari BartlettKari Bartlett, DMD, FAGD

Dr. Bartlett, a native of Alabama, is a caring and friendly doctor who believes that patients deserve the best dental treatment available in a warm and friendly environment. She decided to pursue dentistry to combine her love of artistry and the health care profession.

Dr. Bartlett has a great eye for aesthetics and makes sure that all her work is not only functionally sound, but also looks very beautiful and natural. She enjoys making a difference in the lives of her patients and in the community by providing top-quality dental services.

“The ability to treat someone’s confidence and self-esteem at the same time as their dental health is unique and extremely rewarding,” says Dr. Bartlett.

Education & Teaching

Dr. Bartlett received her DMD degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2004. She subsequently completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and returned to Alabama to go into private practice in 2006. She stays up-to-date with the latest dental techniques through regular continuing education. In 2016 alone, Dr. Bartlett completed over 150 hours of continuing education, including a mini-residency with Alabama Implant Education.

In addition to running her own dental practice, Dr. Bartlett is a part-time faculty member at the University of Alabama School Dentistry, where she teaches students about various aspects of dentistry.

Awards and Honors

Dr. Bartlett is a recipient of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry “Outstanding New Dentist Award” and of the Eleanor J. Bushee Memorial Scholarship. In 2004, she received the “Outstanding Leader Award” from the Alabama chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists, where she later also served as vice president.

Community Service and Charitable Activities

Dr. Bartlett places great value on community service and has participated in numerous charitable campaigns and community services throughout her career, including serving as a volunteer for a variety of local non-profits.

She has frequently donated her dental services to those in need. Her charitable dental projects include regular participation in Give Kids A Smile Day, an annual event organized by the American Dental Association to provide free dental care to underserved children in local communities. She has taken part in the Special Olympics Special Smiles program, where she provided dental care to the athletes of the Special Olympics, and she has undertaken a special Dental Mission Trip to Costa Rica to provide free dental services to the local population.

Kaitlin Byerly, DMD

Dr. Kaitlin Byerly, who was born and raised in Alabama, is a genuine and compassionate dentist that believes her patients deserve the best care possible. Dr. Byerly knew she wanted to become a dentist at a young age. Throughout her early education she pursued dentistry, because it combines both her passion for art and science. She is now committed to providing the best services and skills to her patients through general dentistry. She enjoys making patients feel at home and comfortable while providing excellent, lifelong care.

Education

Dr. Byerly attended Auburn University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. She then went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2020 ranking first in her class. Following graduation, she attended the Swedish Medical Center General Practice Residency in Seattle, Washington. Upon completion of her residency, she moved back to her home state and started work at Dental Arts. She is currently working towards her Fellowship Award through the Academy of General Dentistry.

Awards and Honors

Dr. Byerly was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society where she received the William S. Kramer Award of Excellence in 2019. She is also the recipient of several scholarships including the Thomas P. Hinman Scholarship, the Alabama State Dental Scholarship, and the Klapper Dental Scholarship.

Community Service and Charitable Activities

Dr. Byerly is passionate about serving her community and has been involved in multiple community service projects throughout her dental career. She has participated with organizations such as Project Homeless Connect and First Light Women’s Shelter to better support members of our Alabama community. Most recently, she participated in a Remote Area Medical (RAM) event, where underserved and uninsured patients are able to receive free dental care with the non-profit, mobile medical organization.
